FreeForms^TM System

VNA Home Health Systems is one of the first home health care organizations in the nation to develop and utilize over-the-counter handheld digital technologies to give nurses more time to nurse. Full-time on the street clinicians are now using personal digital assistants with comprehensive realtime clinical resources and easy-to-use electronic nursing forms. We call this our FreeForms^TM System.

The FreeForms^TM System is designed to address two of nurses' biggest complaints about nursing: too much time filling out endless forms and not enough time spent with patients.

Connecting isolated community healthcare givers with the home office and the larger community through the internet is a logical utilization of the wireless and fiber optic infrastructure. The personal digital assistant technology was chosen because it has the technical capabilities to perform the desired tasks in a small, non-threatening device that is less intimidating and confusing than a laptop computer. We use over the counter personal digital assistants with our own software applications for accessing and using the system. A miniature wireless modem and portable keyboard to facilitate longer answers are also provided.
