VNAHHS maintains an efficient automation of internal clinical information systems using proprietary applications on an IBM AS400 mid range server. We do not rely on external vendors so we can reconfigure our system as needed.

It is exciting to be part of a forward thinking organization eager to maximize information technology for the benefit of our nurses and patients. My job is to anticipate the various internal and external technical demands of the FreeForms^TM System and to configure our hardware and software to handle our needs. We have carefully researched the optimal combination of equipment that can do the tasks we require without being complicated to use. A personal digital assistant is not a computer! It is a handheld device with easy instructions on a small screen that tell you what to do. We have chosen the machine and designed the software with the goal of making a sophisticated system easy for on-the-street clinicians to use.

Our current challenge is to integrate the FreeForms^TM System with our existing clinical information system for maximum benefit both in the field and in the office. We are not aware of any other home healthcare organization of our size in the nation pursuing hand held digital technologies for the benefit of home healthcare clinicians.
